•Breathing techniques, affirmations, visualisation & deep relaxation
•Creating your birth preferences and navigating the hospital system
•Partner strategies for support, advocacy & comfort
•What to do when birth takes a different path
“As first time parents, Amy provided my husband and I with so much information on labour and birth! The fact that she was very open about her own birthing experience and things not always going to plan left us feeling so much more comfortable as a couple going into labour/delivery for the first time. We feel we have the tools we need now regardless of how our birth goes. It also really helped us know where we could advocate for ourselves and how to do that in the hospital if needed which is so important!
Amy is a lovely instructor and I wish everyone giving birth could have access to classes and information like this!” ~ Candice

Meet Our Team

Pip Wynn Owen
Hi, I’m Pip—the founder of Perth Hypnobirthing & Co.
I’ve spent over two decades walking besides families as they prepare for one of life’s most transformative experiences: birth and early parenting.
My work blends the clinical knowledge of a Midwife, the deep insight of a Certified Childbirth and Early Parenting Educator, and the nurturing support of an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) and NDC Accredited Health Professional.
But more than anything, I’m a lifelong learner—curious, passionate, and always evolving. Whether I’m attending conferences (I’m the first to grab a ticket when Dr. Rachel Reed is on stage!), diving into research on topics like Group B Strep and Vitamin K, or completing Lactology units at UWA, I’m always building on what I know to bring families the very best, most up-to-date information and support.
After over 10 years as a certified Hypnobirthing Australia™ practitioner, I’ve made the decision to step away from teaching the structured programme and instead focus on delivering a more flexible, blended approach to birth and parenting education.
Because it’s Not Just About the Tools—It’s About What Works for You
I don’t believe in handing you a long list of birth techniques and hoping something sticks.
In my workshops, I’ll help you understand your nervous system, your natural stress responses, and the unique way your body and brain work under pressure—so you can choose the tools that will genuinely support you during labour and the early days of parenting.
Whether you’re someone who calms through movement, needs focused breathwork, or thrives with sensory tools and partner support, we’ll find what works for you, not just what works in theory.
Because feeling safe, calm, and confident isn’t a one-size-fits-all formula—it’s a personal journey. I’m here to help you discover what that looks like for your body, your brain, and your birth.
Every family, every body, and every birth is unique—and that’s why my classes blend evidence, emotion, hands-on tools, an understanding of different neurotypes and nervous systems and open-hearted support.
Whether you’re hoping for a calm physiological birth, navigating the uncertainty of a medical induction, or just want to feel more prepared for life with a newborn—I want you to feel informed, respected, and deeply supported.
Because you deserve more than a birth plan. You deserve to feel heard, supported, informed, and confident—from pregnancy through to parenting.

Vicki Hobbs
My name is Vicki Hobbs, and supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and beyond isn’t just my profession—it’s my calling. I come from a long lineage of wise, grounded women who brought calm and clarity to the birth space. They taught me that when a woman feels safe, supported, and heard, she can birth with strength and self-trust.
I’m a pregnancy, birth, and postpartum practitioner, educator, and coach. I’m also a proud mother to two fiercely independent daughters—15 years apart—and a brand new nanna (which is one of my life’s greatest honours). My own journey through loss, grief, joy, and transformation has given me deep empathy and insight into the many shapes motherhood can take.
My Approach: Back to Basics, Rooted in Respect
I believe birth preparation should be simple, clear, and grounded in real choices—not fear or pressure. My approach goes back to basics, focusing on what women really need to feel confident and calm:
• Evidence-based education
• Supportive, partner-inclusive tools
• Permission to trust their body and their instincts
• A judgment-free space to feel seen, heard, and understood
My priority is always the woman. While I absolutely love welcoming babies into the world, my work is centred on making sure mothers feel strong, informed, and in control of their journey.
Since 2004, I’ve dedicated myself to studying a wide range of therapies, techniques, and birth philosophies to ensure the women I support have real options—because what works for one person may not work for the next.
I’ve studied everything from Pregnancy Massage, Hypnobirthing, and EFT to Birth After Caesarean, Optimal Maternal Positioning, VBAC, Trauma-Informed Care, and more. I’m a serial workshopper, conference regular, and research junkie—constantly learning from thought leaders
My Promise to You
I won’t promise perfection.
I won’t offer fluff or sugar-coating.
But I will:
Listen without judgment
Support without agenda
Equip you with evidence-based tools
Hold space for your choices, your fears, and your transformation
Because you deserve to feel safe, respected, and ready for birth—no matter what your journey looks like.

Amy Swann
Hi, I’m Amy Swann, a passionate and down-to-earth Hypnobirthing Australia™ Certified Practitioner dedicated to helping parents prepare for birth with confidence, clarity, and calm.
With a background in education and a deep love for working with expectant families, I bring a grounded and supportive presence to every group I teach. My approach is realistic, relatable, and evidence-based—you won’t find fluff or overwhelm in my classes, just practical tools, empowering knowledge, and a space where all questions are welcome.
Why I Teach Hypnobirthing
I was drawn to Hypnobirthing Australia™ because it offers a clear, well-researched, and proven framework for preparing both mind and body for a positive birth. It’s adaptable, inclusive, and works for every kind of birth—whether you’re planning a home birth, a hospital birth, or something in between.
But beyond the techniques, what I love most is seeing parents shift from fear to confidence, and watching birth partners step into their role with pride and purpose.
What You Can Expect in My Classes
• A supportive, non-judgmental environment
• Easy-to-understand education—no medical jargon overload
• Hands-on breathing, visualisation, and mindset techniques
• Honest conversations about what to expect and how to stay in control
• Encouragement to explore your values, preferences, and instincts
My goal is for you to walk away feeling informed, empowered, and connected—to your birth, your body, your baby, and your partner.
If you’re looking for a calm and practical way to prepare for birth, I’d love to welcome you into my next group course.

Amy McAlpine
Hi, I’m Dr. Amy McAlpine—a registered Clinical and Forensic Psychologist with over 14 years of experience supporting individuals and families across both government and private practice settings.
I’m also a proud Hypnobirthing Australia™ mum, having used the Positive Birth Program to welcome both of my children into the world in 2015 and 2020. Those two births were each uniquely empowering and beautiful—and I credit so much of that to the tools, knowledge, and mindset I gained through hypnobirthing.
Now, I’m honoured to teach this programme and help other families prepare for calm, confident, and joy-filled births of their own.
Where Psychology Meets Birth Preparation
In my clinical work, I’ve supported many women through the emotional challenges surrounding pregnancy, birth, and postpartum life—from birth trauma and tokophobia (fear of birth) to postnatal anxiety and adjusting to new parenthood.
Too often, I meet women who were never truly informed about their rights, their options, or what to expect during labour and birth. This lack of preparation can lead to fear, loss of control, and difficulty bonding with baby after birth.
That’s why I’m so passionate about what I do. Through hypnobirthing, I help parents build mental calm, emotional resilience, and real-world strategies so they feel excited—not anxious—about the day they meet their baby.
What You Can Expect in My Classes
• A grounded, evidence-based approach to birth education
Respect for all emotional experiences—no pressure, no judgment
• Support for parents managing anxiety, past trauma, or fear
• Honest, empowering conversations about birth rights and choices
• A balance of science, psychology, and practical techniques
• A warm, welcoming space for both birthing women and their partners
I’m here to help you feel safe, prepared, and powerful as you step into this life-changing experience.
