Hi Pip,

Our beautiful girl ventured earth side on May 10th 2022 at 9.33 am. Weighing 3.56kg and 47cm long.
Her due date was May 11th and that’s when we were booked in for our ‘belly birth’ at KEMH.
However, our little warrior decided that she would like to be born a day earlier. I felt so blessed to be able to experience labour as the hospital we’re not keen on a spontaneous non-emergency c section as we requested.
I laboured for an hour and a half at home before calling the FBC (as we were originally giving birth there), when the midwife heard my surges she told me to go to the hospital to ensure the safe arrival of our footling breech baby.
It was all hands on deck at the hospital and I was in two minds trying to put into place the skills I learnt in Hypnobirth classes but also knew that it wasn’t ideal for her little foot to slip through.
I was 3cm dilated within 2 hours so things moved very quickly for us.
I am so in awe of my birth, though it wasn’t the natural water birth that I had envisioned at the FBC.
Having my husband and midwife by my side, playing my own music and breathing out and baring down my baby through my belly is the most magical moment of my life!
I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generous time, energy, knowledge and support through the hypnobirth experience and when I was told about our footling position breech, the two unsuccessful ECV’s and surrendering to a belly birth.
You’re an inspiration and the world needs more empowering birth educators like you.
