I loved getting this email from a client who birth her Hypnobub 6 months ago.
This is how a mum should feel 6 months after birth, not tired, overwhelmed and depressed.
“Hello Pip 🙂
How are you?! I have been meaning to write to you for months now, but you know how things are with a baby- the days go so quickly!
I hope you are doing great and not too cold — everyone is telling me how winter has hit early in Perth.
However, compared to French winter, I am sure it’s not too bad… 🙂
I wanted to email you to just say hi and give you a little update on Charlie.
I still have such amazing memories of her birth and the way it all went, nothing will ever take away from that.
I’ve had lots of interesting conversations over the last 6 months (yes, Charlie is already six months old), with girls who are pregnant (and also those who are curious about what it is like to give birth).
It really is empowering to pass on a positive story to these other women, with a smile on my face, and tell them that it was fantastic, enjoyable and “manageable” to give birth without drugs.
“Manageable” being the only word I can use that describes how it can be- if you want to give birth naturally without drugs it’s totally possible- you can manage the pain using the hypnobirthing method and by being confident in yourself and the natural process that it is.
Charlie is doing so well. She is the classic hypnobirthing baby- so CALM!!!!!
She is a chilled out little girl, so happy and laughing, smiling all the time.
She sleeps really well (from abut 3.5 months she was sleeping from 7:30pm-5am, waking for a feed, then sleeping again until about 8am)…
Everyone always comments on how calm she is.
In fact, I flew to Australia in March and stayed for 6 weeks.
Bruce and I flew together to Perth and after the two flights the people all around us were chatting to us and saying, “How old is she?! 3 months?! What!?! She was an angel, so quiet and well behaved.”
I flew back by myself and was initially pretty worried about it, but in the end, she was great and it was fine.
The airport staff were pretty helpful when you have a baby and I noticed that people on the flight were also really helpful- for example, a big bikie guy held Charlie for me while I put my baby carrier on at some stage! haha 🙂
To put her down to sleep is easy, she actually wants her sleep (doesn’t fight it thankfully!!) and I literally put her in bed awake and within 5 minutes she has her thumb in her mouth (hmmmm!) and is asleep.
No rocking, no pacing up and down the house- just a really easy baby.
She had her first tooth arrive two days ago, which was not such a nice day for her- it’s the first time I have really seen her cry a lot and not know what to do for her (or realise why she was crying and in so much pain until after).
I’m still breastfeeding her- which she loves (me too, it is amazing!)….
We have started on some solids and she likes everything so far- apple, carrot, sweet potato, green beans, pear, avocado, rice….. everything except banana funnily enough!
I will keep breastfeeding her until the end of the year.
I can’t imagine putting her on formula after seeing how well she does being BF.
Actually, often when I am feeding her I put the hypnobirthing music on and I think she really likes it.
I listen to that music still at night if I can’t fall asleep, or even just to relax.
As for me, I am doing well, just more tired than usual!
We have a good rhythm from day to day, I have met another girl who has a little baby boy so we catch up for “mum stuff” every week or so.
But I am still looking for “mothers group” in France or mum/ bub activities so I can meet other girls. It will all happen in good time.
I’ve attached a few photos for you to see of Charlie. She has grown so much!
I hope you are doing great and that things within the hypnobirthing world are good too.
I follow your Facebook page and read all the articles you put up- some good stuff there.
Ok! Enough from me!
Take care 🙂
Sarah xoxo”
