There has been a lot in the media about birth trauma recently.

Researchers are now saying that up to one in three Australian women have experienced birth trauma and one in 10 women emerge from childbirth with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

So I am glad to share how using the Positive Birth Program by Hypnobirthing Australia™ contributed to healing birth trauma for this mum.

I wish women didn’t have to go through the first traumatic birth to discover that they need to educate and empower themselves, but at least there is a better way to birth that does bring healing.

It restored and healed everything I went through with my previous induction/epidural/episiotomy/3a tear in 2016 which took me a long time to recover from. ~ Laura

Here is Laura’s story

“Hi Pip

Brett and I welcomed a handsome boy into the world on the 19th of October (40 weeks and 2 days) his name is Osias Edward Jenkins.
I went into labour about 6 am not really aware my surges were the real deal. I had them the previous day and they went away within a few hours.
We had planned a BBQ at our house on the Saturday afternoon. Brett came home from the shops at about 2 pm when I told him we had to cancel because I was in labour.

Our midwife from the Community Midwife Program in Joondalup came and assessed me at home and I was 6cm dilated.

We gave our daughter a kiss and left her with my mum and went straight to the Family Birth Centre.
We arrived there at 3:30 pm. I got the drug-free, natural birth that I dreamt about at around 6:38 pm.
It restored and healed everything I went through with my previous induction/epidural/episiotomy/3a tear in 2016 which took me a long time to recover from.
I birthed his head in the water, had to hop out because he needed a little help with his arm that was stuck.
I was in the ‘pushing’ phase for over an hour.
I had 3 wonderful midwives help me get him out without having to use any medical equipment.
I only ended up with a small 2-degree tear, which has been an easy recovery so far.
He latched by himself within the hour and our breastfeeding journey is going so well.
Something I never got to share with my daughter.

He’s a calm and peaceful baby and I put everything down to continuity of care, hypnobirthing and having a positive mindset.

I never had a mantra throughout my pregnancy, but in labour I had the words “I can do anything for one minute” get me through those intense surges. That and the breathing helped immensely.
Brett my husband was so supportive and reassuring, and did all the right things.
I won the lotto, because I had my dream birth and we found out we had a boy, 9 months of suffering through hyperemesis well and truly worth it.
Thank you for the wonderful work you do, your passion and love for this positive birth program set me up for a lifetime of thankfulness! I am so grateful!
Kind Regards
The Jenkins
